MWellsSelfieMelanie Wells – Mrs. Wells is so excited for her sixth year at Meadow Glen Middle School!  She graduated from USC with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  She also has her Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Educational Technology.  She is Middle Level ELA certified and has her Gifted and Talented Endorsement.  This will be her seventh year teaching in Lexington One.  In her free time, Mrs. Wells enjoys spending time with her husband, son, two rescue dogs, and horse. mwells@lexington1.net 803.821.0670

 

 

Claire Calcina – Ms. Calcina is a 6th grade English language arts teacher. She is a native of South Carolina and was born and raised to be a Carolina Gamecock. She graduated from the University South Carolina with her degree in Elementary Education. In her spare time she enjoys reading, watching Netflix, going to the beach, cheering on the Gamecocks, and playing with her dogs, Hank and Doug. She is blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of the MGM family, and she is looking forward to a new school year! Go Gators!

Andrea Roberts – Ms. Roberts teaches 6th grade Language Arts and is also Literacy Coach and ELA department chair at MGM.  Originally from Indiana, she is a graduate from Indiana University with a B.A. in Psychology and Elementary teaching certification.  Additionally, she has a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum and Instruction, is Middle Level Language Arts certified, and Gifted and Talented endorsed.  Ms. Roberts was the first Teacher of the Year for Meadow Glen Middle School in 2012-2013.  She has over 21 years teaching experience and has found her passion at Meadow Glen with Expeditionary Learning.  On a personal level, her daughter is a junior at Newberry College, and she has four rescue pets (Jackson, Opal, Franklin, and Skylar) living at home.  Outside school she spends time participating in flower gardening, cooking, yoga, crossfit, rock climbing, and hiking! Bill Rogers – Mr. Rogers is excited about the upcoming year at Meadow Glen Middle School.  He currently teaches 7th grade math, has been teaching for 20 years, and has always taught in Lexington District One.  He received his Bachelors degree in elementary education from Coker College and his Masters degree in administration at the University of South Carolina.  Mr. Rogers is certified and highly qualified in elementary education, middle level mathematics, middle level science, and as a tier one elementary principal.  He also holds a Gifted and Talented endorsement.   Some of his favorite activities are going to the mountains, taking his family to the beach, or simply going to dinner and a movie with his girls.  Mr. Rogers’ wife of 24 years, Cheri, is also a teacher, and teaches special education at Gilbert High School.  BRogers@Lexington1.net, 821-0556

 

 

hardyTammy Hardy– Tammy Hardy is thrilled to be teaching 7th grade mathematics at MeadowGlenMiddle School!  She is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  She attended FurmanUniversity whereshe was an all-conference volleyball player.  She graduated with a B.A.in Elementary and Special Education-learning disabilities.  Mrs. Hardy has taught middle school students in Lexington School District One for 10 years, and has coached both volleyball and basketball teams for District One.  She and her husband have 3 active children, ages 12, 12, and 9.  The Hardy family can typically be spotted either at a baseball field, a basketball court, or a competitive swimming pool! RFischer 7Rebecca Fischer – Hello MGMS! My name is Rebecca Fischer and I am a first year 7th grade math teacher at MGM. I recently graduated from Newberry College *go wolves* with a major in Middle Level Education and concentrations in both math and social studies. While at school I was a Teaching Fellow and worked very closely with Teacher Cadets. I’ve been playing volleyball since 6th grade, but only played one year at Newberry. I am the assistant coach for the MGM volleyball team and am excited to start this year off strong! I have 4 older siblings and a handsome Labrador puppy named Danger who is 7 months old. In my free time I enjoying writing poetry and just hanging outside with my dog. I am looking forward to learning right along with my students this year and cannot wait to get to know all the new faces!

 

 

Social Studies

Derrick Price – Mr. Price is excited to be a Gator! Along with teaching 7th grade social studies he will be the athletic director and head football coach.  He previously taught at Chapin Middle School as well as coaching at Irmo High school and Middle school. He received his Master’s degree in divergent learning from Columbia College in 2010 and was National Board certified in 2007.  Mr. Price loves teaching history and wants to instill a passion for history and learning in his students!  During his time at Irmo he served as middle school head coach winning conference titles in 2006 and 2008. He also worked as an assistant coach for Irmo High School, coaching in the 2004, 2006, and 2008 state championships. He is married to Mrs. Amy Price, who teaches at River Bluff high. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing baseball with his sons, Oliver (8) and Rutledge (4), and cheering for the Gamecocks and Chicago Bears. DWPrice@Lexington1.net, 821-0667

 

 

IMG_20151008_140336Amanda Sevon-Lynch – Ms. Sevon-Lynch is currently serving as the 7th grade House Leader.  She is excited to work with 7th graders in this new role.  When not at school she enjoys sporting events, live music, great food, and being outdoors with her dog.  Ms. Sevon-Lynch has a degree in Political Science from University of North Carolina-Greensboro Greensboro, NC and a Masters in Education Leadership from High Point University, High Point, NC.  She has 9 years of experience and is excited to start this new year.

 

 

amandaAmanda Kerbis – Ms. Kerbis is a first year 7th grade social studies teacher and incredibly excited to be at MGM. She is originally from New York/Pennsylvania and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrated Social Studies from Kent State University in Ohio. When not in school, Amanda enjoys cheering on the New York Yankees, reading, watching movies, and doing outdoor activities. At home, she has a pet hedgehog named Marty. She’s ready to help bring history to life for every 7th grade student that walks through her door. akerbis@lexington1.net

Screen Shot 2016-08-31 at 2.15.50 PMTaylor Fralick – Mr. Fralick is excited to begin another great year of learning at MGM!  He grew up in the Lexington area and attended the University of South Carolina and received an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education.  After student teaching at MGM during college, he quickly knew that he wanted to teach middle school and specifically wanted to be a part of all the powerful learning experiences that were taking place at MGM.  Mr. Fralick is the assistant girls and boys golf coach at River Bluff High School and enjoys spending time at the golf course with his players and watching them develop their skills (along with his own).  In his spare time, Mr. Fralick enjoys spending time with his wife, Bailee, and their two dogs, Gabby and Beau.  They enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors.  TFralick@lexington1.net 821-0628

 

 

karlCory Karl – Coach Karl is ready for another amazing year at MGM! She takes pride in graduating from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelors in Biology and a Masters of teaching. After 4 years of cheerleading for the gamecocks she decided to pass on the love of cheer to the Gator Cheer team. When she’s not teaching or cheering for the gators she enjoys spending time with her husband Calvin and their 4 dogs floating down the river or taking a road trip! Coach Karl can’t wait for everything MGM has in store for the future! GO GATORS!

 

 

Margaret Tesh– She has been teaching middle school students for 30 years, all in Lexington District One. Twenty four of these years were spent teaching 7th grade science, while the last 6 years have been in 8th grade science. She graduated from USC with a BA degree in Middle Education and Elementary Education. She is highly qualified in Middle Level Science. Even though she graduated from USC, she is both a Clemson and Tennessee fan! She is originally from SC, but has lived in TN, PA, and OK. Some of her hobbies are reading, shopping, cooking and playing games, such as cards and board games. She has played on a pool team! Basketball and baseball are her favorite sports to watch.
