ELA

Amanda Hammill – Ms. Hammill is currently serving as the 7th grade House Leader.  She is excited to work with 7th graders this year.  When not at school, she enjoys sporting events, live music, great food, and being outdoors with her dogs.  Ms. Hammill has a degree in Political Science from University of North Carolina-Greensboro Greensboro, NC and a Masters in Education Leadership from High Point University, High Point, NC.  She has 11 years of experience and is excited to start this new year.

Joyce Perkins – Mrs. Perkins is excited to be here at MGM this year.  She has been in education for 8 years.  She has a BA from USC, a MBA from University of Phoenix, and M. Ed from USC.  She is excited to be with the 7th grade house this year and looks forward to an amazing year.  Go Gators!

Andrea Roberts – Ms. Roberts teaches 6th grade Language Arts and is also Instructional Coach and ELA department chair at MGM.  Originally from Indiana, she is a graduate from Indiana University with a B.A. in Psychology and Elementary teaching certification.  Additionally, she has a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum and Instruction, is Middle Level Language Arts certified, and Gifted and Talented endorsed.  Ms. Roberts was the first Teacher of the Year for Meadow Glen Middle School in 2012-2013.  She has over 23 years teaching experience and has found her passion at Meadow Glen with Expeditionary Learning.  On a personal level, she has one daughter, Alexandra, and three rescue pets (Jackson, Opal, and Franklin).  Outside school she can be found participating in yoga, rock climbing, hiking, and working out at Orange Theory! GoGators!

Brandi Patterson – I am so excited to join the MGM crew this year as a 6th grade ELA teacher! I have spent the last 3 years as a 5th grade teacher at Meadow Glen Elementary and am excited to cross the bridge to middle school! I graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis is literacy, culture, and diversity. I am a die hard Clemson fan and love cheering on my Tigers during football season. I also enjoy running, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. I am looking forward to an awesome year of learning and growing at MGM!

Math

Bill Rogers – Mr. Rogers is excited about the upcoming year at Meadow Glen Middle School.  He currently teaches 7th grade math, has been teaching for 22 years, and has always taught in Lexington District One.  He received his Bachelors degree in elementary education from Coker College and his Masters degree in administration from the University of South Carolina.  Mr. Rogers is certified and highly qualified in elementary education, middle level mathematics, middle level science, and as a tier one elementary principal.  He also holds a Gifted and Talented endorsement.   Some of his favorite activities are taking his family to the beach, watching TV, or simply going to dinner and a movie with his girls.  Mr. Rogers’ wife of 26 years, Cheri, recently retired after 33 years as a special education teacher.  They have 1 son, 3 daughters, and 2 grandchildren. Tammy Hardy– Tammy Hardy is thrilled to be teaching 7th grade mathematics at MeadowGlenMiddle School!  She is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  She attended FurmanUniversity whereshe was an all-conference volleyball player.  She graduated with a B.A.in Elementary and Special Education-learning disabilities.  Mrs. Hardy has taught middle school students in Lexington School District One for 10 years, and has coached both volleyball and basketball teams for District One.  She and her husband have 3 active children, ages 12, 12, and 9.  The Hardy family can typically be spotted either at a baseball field, a basketball court, or a competitive swimming pool! Rebecca Fischer – Hello MGMS! My name is Rebecca Fischer and I am a first year 7th grade math teacher at MGM. I recently graduated from Newberry College *go wolves* with a major in Middle Level Education and concentrations in both math and social studies. While at school I was a Teaching Fellow and worked very closely with Teacher Cadets. I’ve been playing volleyball since 6th grade, but only played one year at Newberry. I am the assistant coach for the MGM volleyball team and am excited to start this year off strong! I have 4 older siblings and a handsome Labrador puppy named Danger who is 7 months old. In my free time I enjoying writing poetry and just hanging outside with my dog. I am looking forward to learning right along with my students this year and cannot wait to get to know all the new faces!

Social Studies

Derrick Price -Mr. Price is excited to be a Gator! Along with teaching 7th grade social studies he will be an assistant football coach at River Bluff High School.  He previously taught at Chapin Middle School as well as coaching at Irmo High school and Middle school. He received his Master’s degree in divergent learning from Columbia College in 2010 and was National Board certified in 2007.  Mr. Price loves teaching history and wants to instill a passion for history and learning in his students!  During his time at Irmo he served as middle school head coach winning conference titles in 2006 and 2008. He also worked as an assistant coach for Irmo High School, coaching in the 2004, 2006, and 2008 state championships. He is married to Mrs. Amy Price, who teaches at River Bluff high. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing baseball with his sons, Oliver (9) and Rutledge (5), and cheering for the Gamecocks and Chicago Bears. DWPrice@Lexington1.net, 821-0667

Coach Jackson is excited to be part of the Gator family! He is from Sumter, SC and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of South Carolina. He has a passion for teaching the “why” behind events in history and to teach his students the real-world implications they may have. In addition to teaching 7th grade social studies, he serves as head football coach. Previously, he served as a varsity assistant at Dreher High School as well as being their head JV coach. He believes the relationships you make through teaching and coaching are the heart of the educational profession. He enjoys playing guitar, private pilot flying, Charlie his golden retriever, and all things revolving around the Gamecocks and the Carolina Panthers.

Amanda Kerbis – Ms. Kerbis is a 6th grade social studies teacher and incredibly excited to be at MGM. She is originally from New York/Pennsylvania and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrated Social Studies from Kent State University in Ohio. When not in school, Amanda enjoys cheering on the New York Yankees, reading, watching movies, and doing outdoor activities. At home, she has a pet hedgehog named Marty. She’s ready to help bring history to life for every 7th grade student that walks through her door. akerbis@lexington1.net

Taylor Fralick – Mr. Fralick is excited to begin another great year of learning at MGM!  He grew up in the Lexington area and attended the University of South Carolina and received an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education.  After student teaching at MGM during college, he quickly knew that he wanted to teach middle school and specifically wanted to be a part of all the powerful learning experiences that were taking place at MGM.  Mr. Fralick is the assistant girls and boys golf coach at River Bluff High School and enjoys spending time at the golf course with his players and watching them develop their skills (along with his own).  In his spare time, Mr. Fralick enjoys spending time with his wife, Bailee, and their two dogs, Gabby and Beau.  They enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors.  TFralick@lexington1.net 821-0628

Mary Harbaugh  – Mrs. Harbaugh is looking forward to teaching 6th grade science at MGMS this year.  Mrs. Harbaugh is originally from Kingsport, TN.  She holds a B.S. in Biology from the University of South Carolina, and a M.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Tennessee.  She lives in Irmo with her husband Clayton, her sons Hunter and Hayden, and her two cats.  Her family is growing, with a new baby girl due in November.  Her favorite things are gardening, cooking, reading, hiking, camping, and spending time with her family.  Mrs. Harbaugh is looking forward to another great year at Meadow Glen!

Kirsten Rasmussen – Miss Rasmussen is new to the MGM family and is excited to start her teaching career in 6th grade science.  Originally from outside of Philadelphia, PA she moved to SC to study at Columbia International University.  She recently graduated with her Masters of Arts in Teaching and completed her student teaching in Lexington County School District One.  Outside of school she likes to spend time with family and friends usually drinking coffee, going for walks, or talking about life.  Some of her passions include working on DIY projects, traveling, and speaking Spanish.  Miss Rasmussen is looking forward to this year and the opportunity to guide student curiosity and exploration in and out of the classroom!
