7th grade team


Matt Bonte – I am excited to be back at MGM this year. This will be my sixth year teaching and third at MGM. I am a graduate of USC, with a Bachelor in Education. I am married to Ashley. We have two girls; Chloe is four and Molly was born in June. Ashley and I own the AR Workshop in Lexington and Forest Acres. We stay pretty busy, but enjoy traveling to the beaches and mountains in South Carolina. I love to read, cook, and spend as much time as possible with my family and friends. I belong to F3 Lexington and participate in races in state and the southeast. Thank you for trusting me to teach your student for the 19-20 school year.

Mindy Matthews – Mrs. Matthews is so excited to be a part of the Meadow Glen Middle School family as a 6th and 7th grade ELA teacher. She is originally from Parkersburg, West Virginia and graduated from West Virginia University with her Master’s degree in Secondary English Education. She had previously taught in both West Virginia and North Carolina schools. Her family moved to Lexington when her husband took a job in the Lexington One School District. Together, they have two children Zackary, 14 and Finley, 5. Mrs. Matthews is grateful that she gets to wake up everyday and share her love and passion for teaching with her students. She is looking forward to another amazing year as a Gator.

Claire Calcina – Ms. Calcina is a 6th grade English language arts teacher. She is a native of South Carolina and was born and raised to be a Carolina Gamecock. She graduated from the University South Carolina with her degree in Elementary Education. In her spare time she enjoys reading, watching Netflix, going to the beach, cheering on the Gamecocks, and playing with her dogs, Hank and Doug. She is blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of the MGM family, and she is looking forward to a new school year! Go Gators! ccalcina@lexington1.net


Amber Chavis – Ms. Chavis is teaching 6th grade math this year at Meadow Glen Middle School! She is a graduate of Columbia College and holds a degree in Middle Level Education with certifications in both math and social studies. Though she went to school in Columbia, she will be yelling “Go Tigers!” during football season. Ms. Chavis loves watching the games with her family, friends, and beagle, Boone.

Megan Freibburger – My name is Megan Freiburger, aka Mrs. Frei, and this will be my 3rd year teaching! My first two years in Education I taught 4th grade in Lexington School District Three. I am so excited to begin my first year teaching middle school at MGM, teaching 6th grade math! I graduated from The University of South Carolina with my Bachelor’s in 2015 and my Master’s in 2016 and am currently working towards my add on certification in middle level math. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Ryan Freiburger, and together we have a yorkie poo puppy named Rizzo 🙂 In my free time you can find me playing tennis, watching a new Netflix documentary, or taking long naps. Ashley Seats – I am a graduate of Winthrop University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I have my Master’s in Administration from the University of South Carolina. I added on my middle level certification in mathematics and I am highly qualified in math. I also have the gifted and talented endorsement. My husband’s name is Brett and we have 2 daughters. Lilly is 5 years old and Annabeth is 2 years old. We have a miniature dachshund named Cammi and a beagle named Lucy. I enjoy spending time with my family/friends, shopping, reading, watching Gamecock sports, and going to church. I look forward to a great year at MGM! Tracey West – I am a graduate of Newberry College with a degree in English and a certification in Elementary Education.  I also have a Masters of Education Degree in Divergent Learning from Columbia College. I am highly qualified in mathematics and have a middle school math certification as well as an endorsement in gifted and talented students.  This will be my 28th year teaching middle school children.  I reside in Lexington with my husband and our youngest son.  Our daughter is a graduate of Clemson University and is a registered nurse.    Our 1st son is a senior at Anderson University. Our 11 year old son is in the 7th grade here at MGM.  In my few moments of spare time, I enjoy reading, walking, and spending time with my family.  twest@Lexington1.net



Ryan Miles – My name is Ryan Miles and I will be teaching 6th grade Social Studies this year!  I have been at Meadow Glen since 2012 working with In-School Suspension and have been teaching since 2013.  I love stories of our human experience and learning how civilizations were developed!  I received my B.A. in History from the University of South Carolina in 2007 and served as a combat engineer in the South Carolina Army National Guard.  I also work with MGM’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes and serve as an assistant football coach.  I have a wife, Miranda, and two sons, Noah (3) and Eli (6 months).  I am a book junkie and love to read when I have a spare moment.  I also love serving at church, Gamecocks and Carolina Panthers athletics, helping others in any way I can, thrift store shopping and getting ‘off the grid’ in the outdoors.  I’m looking forward to a great year in Social Studies!


Courtney Garrison – Courtney Garrison is very excited for another great school year at MGM! Courtney is a Lexington native that grew up through Lexington District One. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Winthrop University, maintains “highly qualified” status, and has a Master’s degree in Educational Technology. She is also received her National Board Certification in 2018. This will be her 10th year teaching in Lexington One and her 7th year at MGM! In addition to being a devoted Clemson football fan, Courtney loves to act, dance, kayak, and rock climb. She also loves beach trips with family and friends. She uses technology every chance she gets, and is quite the movie buff. With her love of history, her goal is for her students to develop a zeal for learning about things in the past with a bright outlook for the future. Sarah Huey-Clowney – My name is Sarah Huey-Clowney, and the 2017-18 school year is my twelfth year in the middle school social studies classroom.  I received my Bachelors of Arts degree in History with a minor in secondary education from Winthrop University.  I have two Masters Degrees – the first from Columbia College in Divergent Learning, and the second from Liberty University in Educational Leadership.  I enjoy watching sports of ALL types with my husband and two sons, traveling, cooking, and spending time with my family.


Ying-Chen Lin – Mr. Lin recently graduated from the University of South Carolina Honors College, where he received a B.A in Middle Level Education with specializations in Science and ELA and a minor in Applied Computing. He is originally from Taiwan and has been in the US since the spring of 2016. Prior to coming to the US, Mr. Lin has taught Mandarin to international students and English to Taiwanese junior high school students. After spending a year student teaching in 7th and 8th grade at MGM, he is excited to officially join the Gator Family and is looking forward to a great year!

Sara Loper – Mrs. Loper is very excited about the upcoming year at MGM! Mrs. Loper grew up in Ohio and moved to South Carolina after she graduated college. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Middle Childhood Education from Bowling Green State University and her Masters of Education in Integrating Technology in the Classroom from Walden University. She will be teaching 6th grade science and it will be her 11th year teaching. Patrick Burnett – Mr. Burnett is excited to return to MGM! Along with teaching 6th grade science he is an assistant football coach at River Bluff High School.  He began his teaching career at Meadow Glen Middle, and is returning after spending 3 years at Meadow Glen Elementary, while continuing to coach at MGM. Mr.Burnett is a two time graduate of the University of South Carolina with degrees in Elementary Education and Administration. He is married to Mrs. Kari Burnett, who teaches at Pleasant Hill Middle School.
