Dr. Bill Coon- Principal 

Dr. Bill Coon serves as the founding principal of Meadow Glen Middle School in Lexington, SC.  MGMS is the first EL Education School in SC. Meadow Glen was named a National Mentor School and was also recognized as a Nationally Credentialed EL Education School in 2018.  Additionally, Meadow Glen was recently recognized as a Special Olympics National Unified Champion School, and named an ESPN Honor Roll School 2019-2020 school year. Dr. Coon was named the 2016 NASSP State Principal of the year and was a finalist for the 2019 Silverberg Award. Dr. Coon has also been recognized as the Tennebaum Award Winner in 2006.  Prior to opening MGMS, Dr. Coon was the founding principal of Pleasant Hill Middle School in Lexington, SC.   Both MGMS and PHMS have been recognized on numerous occasions as Palmetto Gold and Silver Schools for academic achievement and closing the achievement gap. PHMS was also recognized as a Red Carpet School and received the School Improvement Council Award winner for their work in the community and outstanding school culture.  Dr. Coon began his administrative career at Alice Drive Middle in Sumter, SC, where the school was recognized as a SC Exemplary Writing School and Red Carpet School.  Dr. Coon has served as past chair of the School Leadership Executive Institute, as a board member on the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement as well as the Executive Committee of the SC Middle School Association.

Kyle Meetze – Dean of Character and Academic Development

Dean Meetze is from Lexington, South Carolina.  He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in biology. He also has a Master of Arts in Teaching in secondary education (biology) and a Master of Education in educational leadership from the University of South Carolina. He holds certifications in secondary teaching (science), middle level teaching (science) and secondary school leadership, and is a National Board Certified Teacher. Mr. Meetze previously served as lead teacher and science teacher for the TWO Academies, a single gender magnet program at Dent Middle School in Richland School District Two. Dean Meetze has presented for school, district, state, and national audiences.  He is a member of PSTA, SCASA, and SCASCD. When not at school, Mr. Meetze enjoys Gamecock sports, traveling, and outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, and camping with his family. KMeetze@lexington1.net or 803-821-0613

Alisa Long – Dean of Character and Academic Development

Dean Long is from Columbia, South Carolina. She graduated from The College of Charleston with a Bachelors of Arts in History with a minor in Secondary Education.  She also holds a Masters of Education and a Masters of Education in educational supervision and administration from Southern Wesleyan University. Previously Ms.Long worked as the 6-12 Social Studies Specialist for Richland School District Two and was a Social Studies Teacher at Irmo High School in Lexington School District Five. When not at school Dean Long enjoys Gamecock football, concerts, and spending time with her family. aklong@lexington1.net

Jamie Powell – Dean of Character and Academic Development

Jamie Powell is an Academic Dean here at MGM.  Jamie has been with Lexington District One since 2001, serving as a middle school and high school English teacher, a High School Interventionist, an Innovation Coach, and an Instructional Resource Coordinator.  A National Board Certified secondary English teacher, Jamie also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Education from Erskine College and a Masters degree in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. jpowell@lexington1.net
