Lauren Black – School Librarian

Mrs. Black is a double graduate of the University of South Carolina where she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a Masters of Library and Information Science.  She has experience in teaching, community outreach, and has worked in a public library for 6 years in circulation, reference, and youth services.  Mrs. Black grew up in Lexington One schools and has a passion for educating the community that she has been a part of her whole life. She currently serves as the vice chair for all of the South Carolina Book Awards Committees, and is the previous chair of the South Carolina Children’s Book Award Committee. Mrs. Black is married with 2 children
(Lee-4 and Ava-2).  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and watching movies. Amy Dent – Digital Learning Coach

Mrs. Dent has twenty-one years of teaching experience and has been a Technology Integration Specialist and Digital Learning Coach in Lexington District One for 13 years.  She holds a Bachelors of Music degree from Winthrop University, Masters of Technology in Education from Lesley University and  Master of Science in Education from Wilkes University.  She has served on the SC Leadership Council for the Discovery Educator Network for 8 years and has been selected to attend 6 different Discovery Leadership Summer Institutes where she had the opportunity to learn and collaborate with educational technology leaders such as Kathy Schrock, Michael Wesch, and Alan November. Collaboration is what she does best. She works with students, teachers, and parents to blend innovative, digital tools into the classroom and provides support for the districts learning platform, Schoology.
