Courtney Shirk

Courtney Shirk (former name Garrison) is very excited for another great school year at MGM! Courtney is a Lexington native that grew up through Lexington District One. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Winthrop University, maintains “highly qualified” status, and has a Master’s degree in Educational Technology. She is also received her National Board Certification in 2018. This will be her 14th year teaching in Lexington One and her 11th year at MGM! In addition to being a devoted Clemson football fan, Courtney loves to act, dance, kayak, and rock climb. She also loves beach trips with family and friends. She uses technology every chance she gets, and is quite the movie buff. With her love of history, her goal is for her students to develop a zeal for learning about different cultures and ideas. Her goal is also for students to become world citizens by learning about the current events across the globe.
