Dr. Phillip Thomas

Coach Thomas designed Outdoor Education at Meadow Glen Middle School in 2013. He is a National Board Certified teacher with a Bachelor's from Clemson University, Master's from The Citadel, and Doctorate degree from University of South Carolina, as well as various certifications including: SCDNR fishing instructor, National Fishing in the Schools instructor, American Heart Association BLS instructor, National Archery in the Schools instructor, and has completed ACCT low ropes course training and the North Carolina Outward Bound course designed for EL educators.

Some of his favorite outdoor activities include fishing, camping, wakeboarding, and kiteboarding. He is also an extreme sports enthusiast with over 500 skydives including wingsuit jumps, and a BASE jump off the New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia. During the summer you'll find him on the lake giving wakeboaring and wakesurfing lessons. He also helps coach boys varsity soccer at River Bluff High School and attends Mt. Horeb Church in Lexington.
